Charlie the Choo-Choo – a Chilling Choice for Children

Master horror writer, Stephen King goes after children in his new picture book – Charlie the Choo-Choo

Just in time for Halloween come news that the world famous horror writer, Stephen King, is going to visit a domain of previously uncharted  territory for him – a children’s book! According to Amazon, the book, titled Charlie the Choo-Choo will be published on November 22nd, will be 24 pages long in hardcover, by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. Shame it will not be out for Halloween, both because it is closer and because of the holiday’s significance.

But don’t look for the book under King’s, because for some reason, the famous author decided to publish the under a pseudonym – Beryl Evans. Fans of Stephen King may recognize Charlie the Choo-Choo as a book purchased by Jake Chambers in King’s novel, The Waste Lands, book 3 of “The Dark Tower” series (which is on its way to become a feature film in 2017).

Therefore, not so much a book under a pseudonym as an Easter egg, it is not really surprising that though the book does not come out until next month, there is no real doubt as to the true identity of Evans.
