Nuerva: an Art Book was written and painted by the Israeli artist Omri Koresh. The story revolves around a single character, who is swept into a magical, but terrifying journey of self-discovery in a fantasy realm called Nuerva. The book is suitable for ages 18+. It also happens to need YOUR help in order to come out.
“Nuerva” is a personal journey, told through it’s protagonist’s perspective and explores issues of gender-identity, sexuality and self-determination. The borders between male and female, reality and fantasy, good and evil, sub and dom are removed, and what follows is an exploration in the twilight zone between supposedly clear dichotomies. In this way for example, the main character is written as both male and female. An intrinsic part of this exploration is the artist/author’s original artwork, which consists of 60 paintings created as a re-interpretation of the events in the story. The book and the original artwork took several years and a lot of hard work to complete, and this shows through Koresh’s great enthusiasm and dedication to the project:
“It was such a long journey to create this ambitious art-book and I’m so proud of it. I really hope that my fans and supporters will love it and cherish it as much as I do”.
And Koresh apparently means what he says. The number of copies to be made is limited at the utter most to 500. And should the Indiegogo campaign succeed, when it ends, the number of copies will be set. This campaign is a Print by Demand thing. Once it’s over, you will not be able to get it anywhere! Get it, or you might regret it!
Synopsis
The day of the attack, I was sitting at the park, reading a book. Slavers rode in on monstrous ships. They took everyone, including me.
I was taken to a horrible black city called Nuerva, where the buildings were jagged lines cutting across the sky. A man, the Captain, took me as his plaything and kept me as his own prisoner. After many days, I finally found the courage to escape.
Alone and frightened, I ran to the furthest edge of the city, and there I found hope. There was another city in the distance – a bright, colorful one. All I had to do was cross the bridge.
I didn’t make it. I was shot at the edge of that bridge which connected the light and the dark cities, moments from freedom.
But I wouldn’t die just yet. It wasn’t my time.
About the Author and Artist
Omri Koresh is a 32-year-old artist living in Israel. He has exhibited in several galleries, and had several solo exhibitions. He is equally capable in traditional as well as digital methods of work. InNuerva, the art is digital, but it has outlines and the general feel of Traditional art.
When he was 24 years old had a very vivid dream, in which he was taken into a black ship, became a slave and taken to a pitch-black city. As he found out later, the city was called Nuerva. Koresh recounts that night:
I woke up at 4 AM, wrote everything I remembered and went back to sleep. I remember the city and this dream in great detail, even today. I remember the urgency that I felt to get out of that darkness, the odd language, the outfits… it was so interesting that as time went by I felt this urge to turn it into a story.
Koresh took took that dream to heart, and from that moment on became a man on a mission, a mission to bring Nuerva to life through his art. We couldn’t help but support this upcoming artist’s quest (plus, I have just the right place for this magical art book. I hope you will support the dude, too!
